BeMAP: BANDWIDTH EFFICIENT MEDIUM ACCESS PROTOCOL FOR TACTICAL MANET WAVEFORMS
نویسنده
چکیده
MANET is a promising networking technology for tactical network. The behavioural characteristics of MANET like self-forming/healing and bandwidth efficiency mainly depends on the design of underlying MAC protocol. The protocol also plays an important role to meet the dynamics of tactical environment which is characterized by arbitrary and dynamic node topologies along with continuously changing traffic pattern This makes mobile wireless communication complicated and difficult to maintain connectivity. A distributed and dynamic TDMA channel access protocol can manage outgoing traffic based on network degree and traffic type. In this paper a new Bandwidth efficient Medium Access protocol (BeMAP) is proposed. The protocol is based on theidea of applying dynamic control cycle which is adaptive to the current network degree, thus optimally utilizing control slot bandwidth. We also present the use traffic slots for three kinds of slot allocation procedure to effectively utilize data bandwidth that suits various traffic characteristics.

Improving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...

متن کاملAd Hoc Mobile Wireless Networks Routing Protocols – A Review
Mobile ad hoc networks(MANET) represent complex distributed systems that comprise wireless mobile nodes that can freely and dynamically self organize into arbitrary and temporary adhoc network topologies, allowing people and devices to seamlessly internet work in areas with no preexisting communication infrastructure e.g., disaster recovery environments. An ad-hoc network is not a new one, havi...
متن کاملSlinky: An Adaptive Protocol for Content Access in Disruption-Tolerant Ad Hoc Networks
The topology of tactical MANETs may vary from well connected to severely disconnected. Applications using the clientserver paradigm often do not perform well in such environments, because they rely on the underlying MANET routing protocols to provide connectivity between arbitrary endpoints, which is often infeasible in tactical MANETs. We consider content-based networking as an alternative par...
متن کاملInterMR: Interoperable MANET Routing across Coalitions
Tactical military networks require efficient interoperation. This is critical in multiple coalition deployments where mission coordination relies on intercommunications. This is also a major challenge since different coalitions may operate with heterogeneous protocols. The existing interconnection protocols designed for the Internet (e.g., BGP) are not adequate for mobile MANETs. In this paper,...
